Liz grew up on her family’s farm outside of Redfield, South Dakota before attending Augustana University and obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Sociology. Following her undergraduate education, she attended the University of North Dakota School of Law in Grand Forks. While in law school, she served as the Managing Associate Editor of the North Dakota Law Review authoring the North Dakota Supreme Court Review in Volume 84 and a case comment in Volume 83. Since returning to Sioux Falls with her family in 2009, she has worked in trust administration in both corporate and independent trust company settings as well as in public accounting, where she focused on the fiduciary, gift, and estate taxation. Through her time as an Attorney with the Social Security Administration, she also gained valuable experience drafting decisions in response to disability claims made under Titles II and XVI of the Social Security Act.

Drawing upon her past experience, Liz enjoys helping families and individuals plan for their future and navigate transitions that occur during their lifetimes. Her prior trust administration experience allows her to partner with individuals and institutions to accomplish their trust needs and goals, whether that involves preparing new trust agreements, modifying or terminating existing trusts, or providing advice and opinion letters on trust terms. Her accounting background also enables her to assist clients with the preparation of gift and estate tax returns in conjunction with general estate planning. Furthermore, through her family’s experience with autism and her experience working at the Social Security Administration, she has developed a passion in the area of special needs trusts and values providing peace of mind and support to families of individuals with special needs.

Within the community, Liz serves on the South Dakota Guardianship Program Trust Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors for South Dakota Parent Connection, and the Board of Directors for the Volunteers of America Foundation.
