Internships

Woods Fuller is pleased to offer law students a rewarding summer associate program. We believe a summer associate position should be about developing legal skills and exploring the entire range of practice areas possible in a firm setting.

As a summer associate, you will find yourself researching, writing, and (most importantly) thinking about real legal issues confronting clients in numerous settings. You can expect to contribute to a variety of legal products during your summer with us, including briefs, memos, and corporate documents. We can help you develop these into writing samples for law review or judicial clerkship applications on request. But we also know the practice of law is much more than a Westlaw subscription and time spent writing behind a desk. You will have plenty of opportunities outside of the office to experience all the practice of law has to offer, including client meetings, trials, hearings, depositions, and mediations.

We believe success in private practice is a function of personal abilities and an environment that provides development and growth. Our summer associate program is intended to find candidates who not only produce high quality legal work, but who will thrive in the Woods Fuller ecosystem.  In the office, this means working with a wide variety of attorneys, from senior shareholders, whose experience is an invaluable resource, to new associates, who relate to the issues facing new attorneys today. Out of the office, this means social activities that introduce summer associates to attorneys and staff in relaxed, informal settings.

We regularly conduct on-campus interviews at the USD Knudson School of Law, and visit the University of Iowa College of Law, the University of Nebraska College of Law, and the St. Thomas School of Law. We also conduct virtual interviews and welcome applicants from any school to interview in person and tour our newly remodeled offices.

We encourage potential applicants to reach out to any of the attorneys listed below to ask questions or seek advice:

Sander Kline, University of Iowa College of Law, Class of 2017

Jake Schneider, University of Nebraska College of Law, Class of 2020

Seth Lopour, USD Knudson School of Law, Class of 2017

Jacquelyn Bouwman, USD Knudson School of Law, Class of 2019

Resumes can be directed to hr@woodsfuller.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
